Choice
Life comes to us in a series of ups and downs. Life may seem good, bad, terrible or tragic. In daily spiritual practice we learn how to handle the ups and downs of life through prayer, taking classes, reading spiritual books and meditation. A wonderful peace comes from building our awareness of the presence of the indwelling God - always with us, wherever we are. We learn that all is God, and that wherever God is, there if good. We learn to make a choice - we choose to know that God's Divine Plan is taking place. We learn that what looks like tragedy to us is a thread in the tapestry of life. There are blessings that we can't foresee, but they are there nevertheless.
Let's choose to have faith in God's Divine plan for all of us. Let's choose to take the time to go within and feel that deep peace of Spirit. It's always there, for we are never alone. What a blessing it is to know that!
Today I choose to see my life in the context of God's Divine Plan. I choose to take the time to live more consciously in the Presence. I allow life to proceed in the perfect way in God's perfect timing.

Practice, Practice, Practice
Everything seemed to happen in a year: my mother's illness, rapid decline, and transition. How do we climb back out of the depths? How do we find the peace we once had, or never had?
I began by rereading Practicing the Presence by Joel Goldsmith. This book, which had once carried me through one of the most difficult and challenging times of my life, now was to come to my rescue once again.
I did all the things I knew to do. I went back to writing in my gratitude journal, and spent wonderful nurturing time in my garden. I admired God's gift in each plant and even talked to the tiny hummingbirds. At last the curtain lifted and Spirit's gifts were once again visible to me. Spirit had never left me. The gifts were always there. I knew all of this, and I knew how to get back to that place of awareness of the Divine within me, waiting to be recognized.
The answer is always within. The answer is always in the practice of our spiritual path through meditation, prayer, spiritual reading and gratitude for what we have.

Sacred Hearts
"...now we want to cleanse and purify ourselves in order to create a pure vessel for the workings of the Holy Spirit"
Ron Roth, Prayer and the Five Stages of Healing
"The Universe if the result of the contemplation of the Divine Mind or the Holy Spirit, which is God."
The Science of Mind, page 196
Many of us have come from a religious background in which a lot of guilt was imposed on us. As a result, we became resistant to those early teachings. We decided to get as far away as we could from our past beliefs, and then we rejected many of the names of God we first learned as a child. But in the end there is only one God, and it matters not what we call it.
It is no accident that Jesus is sometimes called the Sacred heart. We all have this sacred heart. We are all one with the infinite love that God is. As we allow this love to pour through us, we become a vessel for Spirit to express through us as love.
Release old fears and accept divine love into your heart and into your life. Live free and fully. Invite Spirit to enter your heart, to be a part of your conscousness, to raise your awareness to another level. When we release our resistance to our past issues, we may discover that there are many ways of inviting God into our lives by whatever name we choose.

I Am That
If God is, then I am. I cannot say, "I am yesterday,"
and I cannot say, "I am tomorrow."
All I can say is "If God is, I am."
Joel S. Goldsmith, The Art of Spiritual Healing
God as man, in man, is man.
The Science of Mind, page 482
Many of us have searched for more meaning in our lives. This inevitably leads to a search for God. In our search we find something that brings us to a deeper realization and awareness of the Divine within each of us. Meditation is the key that opens the door to our awareness of the Presence that is within. In his book Practicing the Presence Goldsmith recommends meditating four times a day. Right away that thought can knock us out of the ballpark. We can't possibly meditate four times a day. Some of us are challenged to meditate once a day. However, twice a day might work. There are many different ways to meditate. There is a Buddhist meditation which calls for putting a smile into each part of your body, a smile even into your liver. How healing that can be.
In Elizabeth Gilbert's wonderful book Eat, Pray Love I found a mantra she used and tried it myself. It was simply "Ham-sa," which means "I am that." For as it is often said "God is closer than hands and feet, nearer than our very breath. "I am that" goes to the heart of it. God simply is. In the realization that if God is, and we are created by God, we come to the realization of "I am that."

When Bad Things Happen to Good People
Life can seem unfair at times. We may have glorious dreams of what our life is going be. Then something happens that shakes our world. The dream is shattered. It couldn't happen, not to us, but it does happen. What did we do wrong? Why do we have to go through this?
The truth is that no one can take our good from us. Our good comes to us at the right time and in the perfect way. Our life always happens in God's perfect timing. Sometimes that seems too long for us to wait. We want it now. We think we need it now. When we learn to trust God and relax into the Peace of Spirit, we learn to let go and allow God's perfect plan to work for us. We are rewarded in a far greater way than we would have first imagined. God is Infinite Wisdom and is indwelling within us and always available to us.
Take the time now to go within to that place where God dwells. Allow that perfect peace to flow through you. Know now that God wants all that is good and perfect for you.

What is Life All About Anyway?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
it's about learning to dance in the rain.
I just found the above quote and I love it. It's about loving life, living for the joy of it. Of course, there are things we have to do to make our life work. That's obvious. However, there is so much more we can do to make our life more pleasureable. Why don't we do those things?
Have you ever made a list of the things you would do if you knew you had just one day to live? I found that nothing I wanted to do cost any money. My list was being with my loved ones, family, dear friends, being outside, going for a walk on the beach.
What is on your list?
Freedom
July 1, 2009
This is the month that we, as a nation, celebrate our freedom. We recognize how blessed we are to be free to make a choice. Everyday we can choose anew. We can choose to go on as we have and continue receiving all that we are or we can choose to move on with our lives and create a new and exciting life.
Our life is about choice and decisions: The choice to move on or the to stay where we are. We can stay stuck on the same old path and keep living the life that same way we always have. Or we can decide to live free and create an exceptional life.
The wonderful thing about it all is that we do have the freedom to make that choice. I choose to live a life of joy and creativity. I am grateful for the freedom of expression that we all have.
It's Easy
June 1, 2009
One day my nine-year-old granddaughter was drawing a beautiful picture and I complimented her on it. She replied, "It's easy for me." That same day while shopping she admired a skirt and I bought it for her. she put it on and danced around the room in excitement at the fun of having something new.
The joy she expressed in her new skirt was contagious. her happiness bubbled over. it seems to me that she lives in absolute joy, and it is in coming from this attitude that she felt being creative was easy for her.
As adults life can be easy for us too. Whenever something may seem difficult at first, we only need to remember God is doing it through us. We are God's hands and feet. So, declare it to be easy, allow it to be easy. Life doesn't have to be a struggle. We can be in the flow with life. When we live life in alignment with the principles of Truth, life can be easy.
Declare: Life is easy for me. I know God is doing everything through me. With God I can accomplish anything.

A Storm
When life appears to be storming all around us, and when chaos seems to prevail, peace is always available to us. When turmoil hits us we know that there is calm in the midst of the storm. Peace is at the center of us. In the middle of an emotional storm I immediately set to work on myself and my state of mind. I remember the universe always answers my call. I pick up a book and open it to the right passage for the insight that I seek. In times of trouble there is a helping hand that is always there for us.
We can handle any situation that comes our way and any storm that swirls around us. I say "peace be still." and I am calmed and filled with the peace that passes understanding.

Peace
One of the songs many people sing at church is "Let There Be Peace on Earth." The song continues "and let it begin with me."
One of the Divine attributes of God is Peace. Many of us long for peace in our life and for peace in the world. Mankind has prayed for peace through all the wars over the many centuries. There are always pockets of peace, but there has always been war somewhere in the world.
How do we achieve peace? As the song says, "let it begin with me." It begins in our own hearts and in our own lives. Before we can establish peace on earth we can begin by being peaceful ourselves.
Begin by sitting in silent contemplation of the Divine Being that dwells in each of us. This peaceful contemplation / Meditation begins to establish peace around us. Our life becomes calmer and more serene. As we accept it, ask for peace and believe in it, so it is and so it will be.

Oneness
Although we appear separate, in reality we are One in the One Source, One in God (Spirit). If God is all there is, everywhere present, then there can be no other power. We live, move and have our very being in and through God. It is from this space of knowing that we can realize our Oneness in Spirit. As we recognize our unity with Spirit we know that we are also a part of all of creation. It is in this knowing that we can expand our individual lives. We can live the life we are meant to live as we recognize our Oneness with all that is. This is the great Truth of our being.
This awareness of Oneness is known through grace. Grace is the activity of Spirit within us. How do we get to this place of grace? Our spiritual practices can take us there. As we pray, meditate and read books by enlightened writers, we will find ourselves in a state of grace, joy and serenity.
Our soul, the non-physical part of us, is far larger and goes far beyond what we can see. We are always connected through that non-physical part of us to our Divine Source, our Creator. This is our Inner Being. It is written, "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God and all else will be granted unto you." So rather than looking for material wealth, people, places or things to make us happy and fulfilled, look beyond these things, look within and listen for the "still small voice" and look to God and all else will fall into place for you. Seek Ye First!
